The Green Bay Packers are using one of their open practice squad spots to sign a new slot wide receiver. According to Bill Huber of Packers on SI, the Packers will sign former Indianapolis Colts slot receiver Coleman Owen, an undrafted free agent from the 2025 draft class who spent his first NFL season on the Colts practice squad.
Over six preseason games over the last two seasons, Owen caught 17 passes on 23 targets for 192 yards and a touchdown. He ran 89 total routes, including 83 from the slot, per PFF.
The Colts elevated Owen from the practice squad for two games last season, and he returned five kickoffs for 141 yards and one punt for two yards, with two fair catches.
Owen spent his first five collegiate seasons at Northern Arizona before
finishing at Ohio in 2024. He caught 78 passes for 1,245 yards and eight touchdowns. He had seven 100-yard games in 2024, including 137 yards on 10 catches against Syracuse and 11 catches for 141 yards in the bowl game. His ran 96 percent of his routes from the slot and averaged 6.9 yards after the catch, per PFF.
While undersized at 5-11, Owen is an excellent athlete for the slot receiver position, with elite agility testing. His Relative Athletic Score coming out of Ohio was 7.32.

The Packers may need a developmental slot receiver option with Jayden Reed currently out with a neck injury. Owen joins Isaiah Neyor and Quincey Skinner Jr. as receivers on the team's practice squad entering Week 4.
