The Green Bay Packers are adding former Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kedon Slovis to the practice squad, where he will serve as the team's No. 3 quarterback behind starter Jordan Love and veteran backup Tyrod Taylor to start the 2026 season.
General manager Brian Gutekunst announced the arrival of Slovis on Tuesday.
"He was in Arizona this past preseason, did a lot of really good things. Excited to get him," Gutekunst said.
The Packers needed a third quarterback after trading Kyle McCord to the Miami Dolphins for a 2028 sixth-round pick during final cutdowns on Sunday.
Slovis, 25, went undrafted out of BYU in 2024. He has spent time with the Indianapolis Colts, Houston Texans and Cardinals during his first two NFL seasons.
After spending the 2024
season on the practice squad with the Texans, Slovis was with the Cardinals through the 2025 season, first on the practice squad and later on the 53-man roster. He appeared in one regular season game.
During the 2026 preseason, Slovis completed 23 of 42 passes for 253 yards, one touchdown pass and two interceptions. He played most of the preseason finale against the Packers, completing 21 passes for 223 yards but also throwing a pair of interceptions, both under pressure. The final interception set up McCord's game-winning drive.
Slovis will take up one of the four open spots on the practice squad. The Packers have room for two other players and an international exemption player after signing 13 players to the practice squad on Monday.
