Over half of the Green Bay Packers' expected starting offensive line is dealing with an injury question mark entering Week 1 against Brian Flores and the Minnesota Vikings.
Left tackle Jordan Morgan, who surprisingly appeared on the first injury report of the week on Wednesday, has a knee injury, and coach Matt LaFleur wouldn't yet commit to Morgan being available for Sunday.
"There's always concern when there's a guy on the injury report, but as far as his availability, we're trying to build him up to get him in a spot where we feel like he's ready to go," LaFleur said before practice on Thursday.
LaFleur said Morgan has been dealing with the injury for a while, suggesting the injury happened at some point in training camp or the preseason. The
Packers have two more practices, one on Thursday and another on Friday, before issuing a final injury report on Friday afternoon.
Morgan, who is taking over at left tackle to start 2026, joins left guard Aaron Banks and right tackle Zach Bako-Bewele as the starting offensive linemen with injury question marks entering the season. Banks has been managing a lingering knee injury for weeks, while Bako-Bewele is still ramping up after undergoing offseason surgery to repair a partially torn patellar tendon.
Some of the concerns over Bako-Bewele's availability were calmed on Wednesday when the right tackle said he expected to play on Sunday. But it's unclear if he'll be able to get through a full game, and Banks' availability has been a mystery throughout training camp.
Who would start at left tackle if Morgan can't go on Sunday? A pair of 2025 draft picks are the best bets. Anthony Belton has played right tackle for the Packers and could, in theory, move to the left side if needed, while John Williams took most of the backup snaps at left tackle during the preseason.
The timing is tough for the Packers, who are preparing to play one of the most blitz-heavy defenses in football to open the season. Can a rebuilt offensive line bounce back from a disappointing 2025 season with so many injuries already disrupting continuity and cohesion? It's a concern for LaFleur entering Week 1.
"There's always that, especially when you're going against a defense as dynamic as a Brian Flores-led defense. These guys, they do a great job, they present a lot of problems, they are going to give you a lot of different looks and you know you're going to get a lot of pressure," LaFleur said.
