Packers OC counted 18 hits on QB Jordan Love in Week 1 loss

The official box score had the Minnesota Vikings tallying 15 quarterback hits on Jordan Love in the season opener on Sunday. Green Bay Packers offensive coordinator Adam Stenavich actually counted more after reviewing the tape of the 39-22 defeat.

"18 times, actually," Stenavich said Tuesday.

Stenavich said he couldn't think of another game in his Packers tenure when the offensive line -- a group he still oversees -- allowed more pressure on the quarterback.

"It's not good enough. It's not the standard. We've got to be better," Stenavich said.

According to Pro Football Focus, Love was under pressure on 25 of his 46 dropbacks on Sunday. Several times, the Vikings got at least one free runner at the quarterback and either sacked Love, hit him as he was throwing

or hit him right after the throw. Both turnovers, a lost fumble and an interception on a deflected ball, came when Love was under pressure.

"Just miscommunication up front, backs and the o-line not the on the same page. That's the hard part of playing in that environment. Everyone has to do a really good job of communicating," Stenavich said.

The offensive front got beat too many times in a tough environment and against the most blitz-happy defensive coordinator in football. Stenavich said he expects other teams to blitz the Packers more until they prove they can consistently beat it.

Are any changes in store after such a disappointing opener? Stenavich said Donovan Jennings started over Jager Burton based on practice performance over the last few weeks, and he didn't rule out Anthony Belton getting into the mix at guard now that Zach Bako-Bewele is back at right tackle.

"We're going to keep working that this week. We're going to rotate a few guys and find our best combination."
