Green Bay Packers edge rusher Micah Parsons is currently eligible to begin practicing while on the PUP list, but coach Matt LaFleur confirmed Monday that Parsons has not been cleared and will not practice this week as the Packers prepare to face the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 4.
LaFleur said Parsons has not suffered a setback but has also not been cleared to begin practicing by the medical staff.
"No setbacks. Just part of the process. He's got to get cleared before we can let him get out there," LaFleur said Monday.
Parsons tore his ACL and suffered damage to his meniscus on Dec. 14 of last year, and he had surgery to correct the injuries in late December. The Packers have a strict nine-month rule for returning to football activities from Parsons'
level of knee injury, so his window for returning is quickly approaching.
It remains unclear when Parsons will be available to practice, the next big step in his recovery timeline.
New rules created for the 2026 season allow players on the PUP list to begin practicing after the first two regular season weeks, but the Packers did not go through typical practices last week while preparing to play the Atlanta Falcons on "Thursday Night Football." Without practicing this week, the earliest Parsons would be back on the practice field in an official capacity is next Wednesday.
Parsons would technically be eligible to come off the PUP list and play next week against the Chicago Bears, but he will need a ramp up period at practice before he's back on the field in a game situation.
Over the next three weeks, the Packers will play the Buccaneers, the Bears in Week 5 and the Dallas Cowboys in Week 6.
Parsons, a four-time All-Pro, produced 12.5 sacks in his first season with the Packers in 2025.
