The Green Bay Packers will be bringing home a bruised and battered football team following Sunday's win over the New York Jets, and there's little time to rest and recover because the Packers play on "Thursday Night Football" in Week 3.
Short weeks are difficult for healthy teams. The Packers will likely be without several players, and the healthy players are facing a difficult recovery clock after playing an overtime game on the road in Week 2.
It goes without saying: the injury report for the Packers will likely be a long one for Matt LaFleur's team on a short week before playing the Atlanta Falcons on Thursday night.
A quick rundown of the Packers' injuries coming out of Sunday's win:
WR Jayden Reed: He suffered a neck injury on the second play
from scrimmage and needed to be carted off on a backboard. The early prognosis is good, and Reed has movement in all his extremities. His return timeline is unclear moving forward, but he will almost certainly not be available on Thursday night. Skyy Moore and J. Michael Sturdivant got snaps after Reed and Bo Melton went out on Sunday.
RT Zach Bako-Bewele: The Packers' right tackle injured his knee on the third play of scrimmage and needed to be carted off with a cast on his right leg. The team fears he has a season-ending injury, so it's possible Bako-Bewele will go on injured reserve at some point this week to open a roster spot. Anthony Belton took over at right tackle on Sunday, and the 2025 second-round pick could be the starter there the rest of the season.
QB Jordan Love: He got hit on the elbow on a play in the second half, and Love said he temporarily lost feeling in his throwing hand. A similar injury happened to Love in the regular season finale in 2024. To his credit, Love finished the game and produced a few big plays late. He should be fine for Thursday night. Tyrod Taylor is the backup if somehow the injury is more serious than initially believed or gets worse this week.
LG Aaron Banks: After finally returning from knee tendonitis, Banks exited Sunday's game with a toe injury. He was eventually ruled out by the team, suggesting more than just a minor injury. His lack of injury luck continues in Year 2 in Green Bay. It's unclear if Banks has a chance to play Thursday night, but a toe injury probably isn't going to heal in a few days.
WR Christian Watson: He took a big hit on his right hand/wrist in the fourth quarter and was in considerable pain while exiting the field. But Watson eventually returned and finished the game. While it appears Watson has no structural damage, it's likely he'll be feeling that hit this week.
WR Bo Melton: The Packers' backup receiver and core special teamer exited with a stinger. He did not return. Melton's exit provided more opportunities for Skyy Moore and rookie J. Michael Sturdivant at receiver.
LG Donovan Jennings: After taking over for Banks at left guard, Jennings left the game with a hand injury and did not return. He was replaced by rookie Jager Burton.
DL Anthony Campbell: In his pro debut, Campbell limped off the field due to an ankle injury and didn't return. The Packers were without Javon Hargrave and Warren Brinson, so the once impressive depth is being whittled away at defensive tackle.
Others evaluated for injuries included right guard Jacob Monk and linebacker Ty'Ron Hopper. When Monk was out briefly, the Packers were considering the possibility of Tucker Kraft playing offensive line because no other linemen were available. Hopper was evaluated for a concussion but returned.
The Packers will release their first injury report of Week 3 on Monday, so more will be known on the injury front by tomorrow.
