Green Bay Packers running back Josh Jacobs will be removed from the Commissioner's Exempt List on Monday, following the team's Week 6 matchup with the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday night, and he will be eligible to play in Week 7 against the Detroit Lions, according to reporting from ESPN's Adam Schefter on Friday.
Jacobs will miss his sixth regular season game while on the exempt list this week. Per Schefter, the investigation into Jacobs remains open, and the NFL "reserves the right to add further discipline if and when warranted," meaning Jacobs could still be suspended if the league finds additional evidence. More than likely, that would require seeing the video from the criminal investigation stemming from a May incident in Brown County.
Jacobs,
who was placed on the exempt list on Aug. 30, pleaded no contest to charges of battery and criminal destruction of property on Sept. 10. He was charged officially on Aug. 27.
Jacobs was paid his salary and allowed to be in the facility for meetings and workouts while on the exempt list. However, the Packers would need to clear a spot on the 53-man roster to make room for Jacobs coming off the list.
The Packers have used MarShawn Lloyd, Kaleb Johnson, Chris Brooks and Pierre Strong Jr. at running back while Jacobs has missed games this season. Green Bay ranks last in the NFL in rushing attempts and rushing yards entering Week 6.
