The Green Bay Packers made a rookie swap on the practice squad on Tuesday, releasing offensive lineman Josh Gesky to make room for cornerback Elijah Culp.
Gesky, an undrafted free agent out of Illinois, signed with the Packers after coming to Green Bay on a pre-draft visit. He was released after training camp but spent the first five weeks of the 2026 regular season on the practice squad.
Culp (5-10, 189) joins sixth-round pick Domani Jackson as the two cornerbacks on the Packers practice squad. Culp went undrafted out of James Madison, spent training camp with the Arizona Cardinals and then one week on the practice squad of the Indianapolis Colts. He was in Green Bay for both a joint practice and preseason game while playing for Cardinals coach
Mike LaFleur, the younger brother of Packers coach Matt LaFleur. And his experience in a familiar defensive scheme in Arizona should make for a seamless transition to Jonathan Gannon's defense in Green Bay.
The Packers are not lacking depth along the offensive line, with 11 players signed to the 53-man roster and offensive tackle Dalton Cooper, veteran Mekhi Becton and rookie Dillon Wade still on the practice squad.
The Packers gave Gesky $200,000 in guaranteed money to sign as an undrafted free agent. Here's how his release works in terms of the team's salary cap, per Ken Ingalls:
The Packers release OL Josh Gesky from their practice squad. The Packers previously guaranteed $200k of his base salary when signed as an UDFA, which hit as dead cap in 2026 on cutdown day.

However, his practice squad earnings would offset and credit the 2027 salary cap. Now…
