The Green Bay Packers will have clarity on the opposing quarterback to start preparation for Week 5. According to Kevin Fishbain of The Athletic, Chicago Bears coach Ben Johnson told ESPN1000 in Chicago that backup Tyson Bagent will start in place of injured starting quarterback Caleb Williams when the Bears face the Packers at Lambeau Field on Sunday.
Williams will miss his third consecutive game after suffering a hamstring injury in Week 2 against the Minnesota Vikings.
The Bears are 2-0 without Williams, including a dominant 23-12 win over the New York Jets with Bagent under center this past Sunday. Bagent completed 25 of 34 passes for 268 yards and an interception during the win at Soldier Field.
Without Williams, veteran Case Keenum will be
the backup behind Bagent. Keenum led the Bears to a 20-point win over the Philadelphia Eagles in primetime in Week 3.
While the quarterback is always in the spotlight, the Bears have thrived with a dominant run game and an increasingly suffocating defense. The Bears rank first in the NFL in rushing attempts and rushing yards through four weeks, while the defense has allowed only 28 total points during the last three weeks.
The Packers will face a backup quarterback for the second time in as many weeks after taking on undrafted rookie Jalon Daniels and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 4. Veteran backup Carson Wentz played most of the game in Week 1 against the Packers after Minnesota Vikings starter Kyler Murray was knocked out of the game with a concussion.
The Packers and Bears are scheduled for a noon kickoff from Lambeau Field on Sunday.
