The Green Bay Packers sent a small army to Austin, Texas for Saturday’s matchup between Texas State vs. Texas. Green Bay general manager Brian Gutekunst along with Milt Hendrickson (VP of Personnel), John Wojciechowski (Director of Football Operations) and Richmond Williams (Director of Player Personnel) all made the trip to get a first-hand look at a talented Longhorns team.
Prospects like Arch Manning, Cam Coleman, Trevor Goosby and Colin Simmons will all likely go in the first round of the 2027 NFL Draft. That’s just the tip of the iceberg that is the 2026 Longhorns. There are plenty more prospects that Gutekunst and Co. will get a close look at this afternoon.
Hero Kanu, DT, Texas
Kanu enjoyed a breakout season last season for the Longhorns, recording four tackles
for loss and two sacks. The 6-4, 317-pound wrecking ball is primed for more this season. He creates movement with his raw power and he has agile feet and the quickness to make plays up and down the line of scrimmage.
Melvin Siani, OT, Texas
A transfer from Temple and Wake Forest, Siani has started games at both tackle spots and will be the starting right tackle for the Longhorns. At 6-6, 315 pounds, he has ideal size He’s a good athlete and has the lateral quickness to mirror in protection.
Brandon Baker, OL, Texas
Baker is kicking inside to guard this season after starting 13 games at right tackle last season. He’s a physical run blocker and he’s efficient in his movements.
