Green Bay Packers coach Matt LaFleur provided updates on a handful of injured players coming out of Sunday's win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The big one was Edgerrin Cooper, who has a season-ending Achilles tendon injury. LaFleur also provided an update on edge rusher Micah Parsons, who remains on the PUP list entering Week 5.
Injury updates from LaFleur on Monday:
-- On LB Edgerrin Cooper, who suffered a torn Achilles tendon: "He's a tough one to lose," LaFleur said. "My heart hurts for him." LaFleur said it's an opportunity for Isaiah McDuffie and Ty'Ron Hopper to play more next to Zaire Franklin. Cooper will miss the rest of the season. LaFleur believes Hopper has improved immensely since he entered the NFL as a third-round pick in 2024.
"Every year we've seen Hop get better and better and better."
-- On rookie CB Brandon Cisse, who left Sunday's game with a neck injury and concussion evaluation: "He passed everything. I don't think it's anything long term." Cisse is NOT in the concussion protocol.
-- On RB Chris Brooks, who exited in the first half: "He injured his ankle, and we're still getting more tests done on that. We'll see if he's available or not." Kaleb Johnson and MarShawn Lloyd are the only healthy running backs on the roster, but Pierre Strong Jr. is available on the practice squad.
-- On EDGE Micah Parsons, who will NOT practice this week: "The guy is working his butt off to be out there. We've made some ground in the last week, but where and when he'll be available, time will tell. Certainly looking forward to that day."
-- On right guard Kevin Zeitler, who was inactive on Sunday: "All players want to play, but you got to ramp these guys up. I think it was kind of unrealistic to expect him to go in there under the circumstances. Shoot, he's still learning our offense and some of the things we do from a protection standpoint. He's never been in this scheme, unlike Laken (Tomlinson), who's been in our scheme multiple times, in San Francisco and with the Jets." LaFleur cited the hot and humid conditions as another factor in the decision.
