The Green Bay Packers held tryouts for nine different players on Monday, just two days before Matt LaFleur's team opens training camp with a practice on Wednesday. Of the nine players, four were running backs and three were tight ends -- suggesting the Packers are looking for extra bodies at the two injury-affected positions to start camp. The idea is reinforced by the fact that tight ends Tucker Kraft and Luke Musgrave landed on the PUP list and running back Chris Brooks was placed on the non-football injury list on Monday. This time of year, teams will churn the bottom of the roster to make sure they have enough numbers to successfully operate camp practices.
The following nine players were in Green Bay for a tryout on Monday:
- TE Josh Beetham (Georgia Tech): Converted quarterback played 11 games over three seasons at Michigan before seeing action in 23 games at GT. Caught only nine passes over final two seasons. UDFA.
- TE Drew Biber (Minnesota): Wisconsin native. Caught 18 passes for Minnesota in 2025 after playing first four seasons at Purdue. UDFA.
- C Gus Hartwig (Purdue): Spent time with the New York Jets after signing as a UDFA in 2025. Made 48 college starts at center.
- RB Jermar Jefferson (Oregon State): 2021 seventh-round pick of the Detroit Lions, has also spent time with the Tennessee Titans, Arizona Cardinals and San Francisco 49ers. Over 11 career games, has rushed 21 times for 96 yards and two scores.
- K Lenny Krieg (no college -- German born): Spent time with the Atlanta Falcons and New York Jets since entering the NFL as an international player in 2025. Made a 57-yard field goal during last year's preseason. IPP candidate.
- RB Marcus Major (Minnesota): 2025 UDFA signing of the Baltimore Ravens. Scored three rushing touchdowns for the UFL's Houston Gamblers in 2026.
- RB Jalen White (Georgia Southern): 2025 UDFA signing of the Packers. Played the 2026 season with the UFL's Houston Gamblers, rushing for 286 yards and two scores.
- RB Owen Wright (Monmouth, NJ): Has played for the Buccaneers and Ravens, with four regular season appearances.
- TE Thomas Yassmin (Utah): Australian native who has spent time with the Broncos and Chargers since entering NFL in 2024. IPP candidate.
While the Packers
didn't announce a signing on Monday, it's possible several roster moves could be coming Tuesday. All veteran players are scheduled to report to training camp by Tuesday, with the first practice set for Wednesday.
