The Green Bay Packers will return a starter along the offensive line for Week 2 against the New York Jets. Left guard Aaron Banks is officially active, meaning he'll make his season debut on Sunday after missing Week 1 with knee tendonitis.
Banks' return is a big deal for a Packers offensive line that got bulldozed by the blitzes of Brian Flores and the Minnesota Vikings in Week 1. In is Banks, out is Donovan Jennings, who struggled mightily as the starting left guard in the season opener.
Can Banks give the Packers some much-needed stability up front against the Jets, and begin the process of building cohesion and continuity along the starting five of the offensive line?
Banks, who signed with the Packers before the 2025 season, played over 700
snaps at left guard for Green Bay last year. Earlier this month, coach Matt LaFleur said Banks would be the starter at left guard if healthy.
Two other notes from the inactive list: rookie receiver J. Michael Sturdivant and defensive lineman Anthony Campbell are active and expected to make their NFL debuts on Sunday.
The Packers will not have veteran defenders Javon Hargrave and Benjamin St-Juste. The two free agent additions are out due to injuries; Hargrave has a concussion and remains in the league's protocol, while St-Juste hurt his hamstring late in the week. Defensive lineman Warren Brinson will miss his second straight regular season while dealing with a calf injury.
