The Green Bay Packers appear to be looking to add linebacker depth after losing Edgerrin Cooper for the season to a torn Achilles tendon. According to the NFL's transaction wire, they tried out five linebackers on Wednesday and signed one of them to the practice squad.
Here’s who they brought in:
- Jack Dingle, Cincinnati
- Curtis Jacobs, Penn State
- Cam Riley, Florida State
- Josh Ross, Michigan
- Channing Tindall, Georgia
According to NFL reporter Aaron Wilson, the Packers are signing Dingle to the practice squad. Dingle went undrafted in 2026 and was with the Cincinnati Bengals up until final roster cuts.
Of the five, Tindall was the only former NFL Draft pick, selected 102nd overall in the third round by the Miami Dolphins. He has appeared in 51 games for the Dolphins and Arizona Cardinals, with no starts and 24 combined tackles. During his career, Tindall has played
696 special teams snaps and only 25 defensive snaps.
Jacobs and Ross are the only other players on the list with NFL regular-season experience. Like Tindall, however, both have primarily played on special teams.
Jacobs went undrafted in 2024 and appeared in 12 games between the New England Patriots and Tennessee Titans, including two starts for the Patriots as a rookie. He has four combined tackles in his career.
Ross went undrafted in 2022 and appeared in 22 games, no starts, for the Baltimore Ravens and Seattle Seahawks, totaling 11 combined tackles.
On Tuesday, the Packers also worked out four free agents: veteran linebacker Deion Jones, linebacker Chris Paul, cornerback Cobee Bryant, and cornerback Dwight McGlothern, but have yet to sign any of them.
They filled Cooper’s roster spot by signing linebacker Kristian Welch to the active roster from the practice squad.
