Green Bay Packers linebacker Edgerrin Cooper was carted off the field after suffering an injury to his lower left leg during Sunday's showdown with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Raymond James Stadium.
Cooper went down with a non-contact injury and immediately grabbed at his left ankle during a third-down play in the third quarter. He appeared to be in significant pain on the field before getting carted off. The mechanism of injury and Cooper's immediate reaction could mean an Achilles injury to the Packers' playmaking linebacker.
Update: The Packers reported Cooper's injury as an Achilles injury, confirming the initial fears. Cooper was immediately ruled out.
Cooper, who came into the contest with 6.0 tackles for loss, produced a sack and an interception
during the first half. He was leading the team with nine tackles overall on Sunday.
Isaiah McDuffie is Cooper's backup at linebacker.
The Packers recently lost receiver Jayden Reed (neck) and right tackle Zach Bako-Bewele (knee) to season-ending injuries.
