Former Green Bay Packers offensive lineman Darian Kinnard has a new home. After being released by the Packers during final cuts on Sunday and clearing waivers on Monday, Kinnard signed with the practice squad of the New York Giants on Tuesday.
Kinnard went from key backup to on the outs in Green Bay. Acquired in a trade with the Philadelphia Eagles last August, Kinnard played in all 17 games, including four starts, for the Packers in 2025. He was on the field for 285 offensive snaps, playing mostly right tackle and as a sixth offensive linemen, and he also appeared on 76 snaps on special teams for Matt LaFleur's team last season.
Kinnard missed time during training camp with an ankle injury and suffered a rapid fall down the depth chart. In the preseason
finale, Kinnard played with the third-string offensive line and struggled, allowing a sack and committing a holding penalty. The Packers kept 10 offensive linemen on the 53-man roster, but Kinnard -- who got a $1 million signing bonus to return to Green Bay this offseason -- wasn't one of them.
Now, Kinnard will return to the NFC East with the Giants.
The Packers kept 2025 second-round pick Anthony Belton, 2026 fifth-round pick Jager Burton, 2024 sixth-round pick Travis Glover, 2025 seventh-round pick John Williams and undrafted free agent Donovan Jennings as the five expected backups behind starters Jordan Morgan, Aaron Banks, Sean Rhyan, Jacob Monk and Zach Bako-Bewele along the offensive line.
