Josiah Deguara, a 2020 third-round pick of the Green Bay Packers, plans to sign with the San Francisco 49ers, per Matt Barrows of The Athletic.
Deguara, the 94th overall pick in 2020, appeared in 50 games and played nearly 1,500 total snaps for the Packers over four seasons (2020-23) in Green Bay.
The 49ers will be Deguara's third team since leaving the Packers as a free agent. He played for the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2024 and the Arizona Cardinals in 2025, appearing in 27 games over the two season combined. Last season, Deguara caught three passes for 21 yards and played 170 snaps on special teams for the Cardinals.
Deguara arrives in San Francisco with experience playing a move tight end/fullback role in a similar offense, and he's also played
nearly 1,000 career special teams snaps, providing additional value for a backup tight end attempting to make a 53-man roster.
The 49ers have six tight ends on the current roster, although starter George Kittle is still working his way back from an injury.
Deguara is a California native.
Deguara was the third pick in the Packers' 2020 draft class, following Jordan Love in the first round and A.J. Dillon in the second. Love, who is entering his fourth season as the Packers starting quarterback and seventh in Green Bay overall, is the only pick from the Packers' 2020 draft class still in Green Bay.
