The reason for signing quarterback Cam Miller to the practice squad is now clear: the Green Bay Packers are losing third-string quarterback Kedon Slovis. According to Tom Pelissero of The Ringer, the Baltimore Ravens are signing Slovis off the Packers' practice squad after losing Lamar Jackson to a thumb injury and backup Tyler Huntley to a toe injury.
Slovis will join the Ravens' 53-man roster and provide a third quarterback option after Jackson goes on injured reserve.
Per Pelissero, Slovis was with Ravens quarterback coach Israel Woolfork while in Arizona during the 2025 season.
Slovis, 25, played in two regular season games and attempted two passes for the Cardinals last season. He was released at final cuts and signed with the Packers practice
squad after general manager Brian Gutekunst traded Kyle McCord to the Miami Dolphins.
Slovis will join rookies Joe Fagano and Austin Reed as the quarterback options for the Ravens moving forward.
The Packers do not play the Ravens during the 2026 regular season.
Miller, a 2025 draft pick of the Las Vegas Raiders, will take over the third quarterback spot in Green Bay on the practice squad. Veteran Tyrod Taylor is the primary backup behind Jordan Love on the 53-man roster. While a developmental player on the practice squad, Miller will get a chance to digest the Packers offense and practice in the system while potentially setting up an opportunity to compete for the backup job next summer.
