Everything was not doom and gloom in Nashville following the Tennessee Titans' 23-10 loss to the New York Jets, as the Titans received some positive injury news.
During his press availability, Titans head coach Robert Saleh said he believes linebacker Cedric Gray has cleared the NFL’s concussion protocol and could be available Sunday when the Titans host the Philadelphia Eagles.
Gray missed Tennessee’s season-opening loss to the Jets after a UTV accident over Labor Day weekend that put him in the protocol. He did not practice during the week leading up to the opener and was ruled out, and the Titans clearly missed him. The third-year linebacker has developed into one of the more dynamic pieces on the defense and was their leading tackler in 2025.
Saleh: I think Cedric Gray will be good for Week 2, but need to double check (on concussion protocol) @Titans

Gray is an elite run defender and could have been a difference-maker against the Jets, who consistently gouged the Titans’ run defense and controlled the clock.
If Gray can return, he could potentially pair with rookie Anthony Hill Jr., who impressed in his regular-season debut and led Tennessee with 16 total tackles, and give the Titans a set of dynamic sideline-to-sideline linebackers, who could have fortified the second level of their defense.
With the Eagles and their high-powered rushing attack coming to Nashville in Week 2, it would be a perfect time for Gray to return and give the struggling defense a boost.
