The fallout from the Tennessee Titans' unexpected trade of Jeffery Simmons to the Chicago Bears continues to trickle out of the facility, with general manager Mike Borgonzi taking to the podium to address the media.
Borgonzi appeared saddened by a move he never truly entertained until the Bears made a significant offer for Simmons, but it came with enough future draft capital to make it too good to pass up.

Borgonzi discussed the move, including the frustrations that come with moving an organizational cornerstone like Simmons, but made it clear it was best for Simmons and the organization in the long term. For a draft-and-develop
team, this gives the front office plenty to work with in 2027 and beyond.
Simmons is off to another strong start, leads all defensive tackles in multiple categories, will be missed on and off the field in Nashville, and will be hard to replace. And although it sounds like he didn’t want to move on, he now has a chance to compete for a championship immediately.
This move will likely draw pushback from a frustrated fanbase, but Chicago made it because they sent an offer the Titans couldn’t refuse, and it could set them up for long-term success. At 1-6 and struggling, it’s hard to look past the headlines and emotions, but once the dust settles, it could be a positive move for all parties involved.
