The Tennessee Titans fell in their season opener to the New York Jets, and it was not a pretty game. The Titans struggled in all areas of the game, and the coaching staff should have plenty of film to work with on improvements ahead of the Titans' matchup with the Philadelphia Eagles.
Speaking of the Eagles, it's always fun to look at another team's roster and see if there are any players you'd like to steal away from them. This week's edition of Gimme Him was tough. Do we pick star running back Saquon Barkley, which would reunite him with Brian Daboll and provide instant improvement to the ground game, or do we pick someone else?
Ultimately, Barkley would be a shiny new toy that adds an incredible dynamic to the offense, but we decided to land
on the other side of the ball.
Picture this: It's Sunday afternoon, and the Titans and Eagles are kicking off at Nissan Stadium. But when Jalen Hurts lines up to take the first snap, across from him, he sees John Franklin-Myers and Jordan Elliott flanking Jeffery Simmons and Jalen Carter. That's a pretty intimidating defensive line.
Carter recorded just three sacks in 2025, but he also had 12 quarterback hits, five tackles for a loss, and seven passes defensed. Combine that production with Simmons' 11 sacks, 21 quarterback hits, 17 tackles for a loss, three pass defenses, and three forced fumbles, and you've got yourself a serious defensive front.
The Titans have a lot of room for improvement in a lot of aspects of their game. Some of the issue right now is a learning curve with the new coaching staff, but some of it is on the coaches to implement and install their schemes effectively. One way to combat that is with raw talent, and that is something Carter would provide instantly.
Unfortunately, this is just a fun exercise we do, and the Titans can't actually steal Carter from the Eagles this week. But imagine the destruction and havoc the combination of Carter and Simmons would wreak... It's a nice distraction from what we will actually see on the field this Sunday.
