For the past few weeks, many outside the Tennessee Titans organization have criticized controlling owner Amy Adams Strunk for not weighing in on the team and its dismal start to the season. On Thursday, those begging for a statement got their wish, but it’s doubtful it said what they expected.
Thursday morning, just after the Titans traded star defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons to the Chicago Bears for two first-round picks, Strunk finally released the following statement:

The entire Nashville community and Titans fanbase will miss Simmons on and off the field. He was not only a team leader and face of the franchise, but his impact outside the team facility will be hard
to duplicate. Simmons has been the Titans representative for the Walter Payton Man of the Year Award for multiple seasons, and replacing his community generosity won't be easy.
While head coach Robert Saleh and general manager Mike Borgonzi will try to fill the production void left by his departure, the real challenge will be finding the next pillar for the community, a player fans and Nashville as a whole can get behind and who can transcend wins and losses.
