Before the Tennessee Titans faced the Baltimore Ravens in Week 4, no one knew what to expect at right guard after Tennessee lost starter Fernando Carmona and top reserve Jackson Slater to the New York Giants.
The Titans turned to recently acquired guard Atonio Mafi, and by the words of offensive coordinator Brian Daboll, they expect him to hold down the position moving forward. Ahead of Thursday's practice, Daboll was asked about Mafi. and had positive reviews.
.@Titans OC Brian Daboll said he was impressed with Atonio Mafi at right guard in his starting debut with the team, impressed with how well he communicated and picked things up ... Said for his first outing, he thought he did well

"I was impressed," Daboll said. "Him not being here very
long, he has done a good job picking up the information and going out there and communicating with everybody. We'll keep on growing with him. But for his first outing, I was pleased with a lot of the things that he did."
While Mafi was new to the Titans, he was familiar with new offensive line coach Carmen Bricillo after the Raiders claimed him off waivers, and that likely helped his transition into Tennessee’s lineup. Now that he is in place, Daboll and his offense can build around his strengths.
Mafi and his linemates will face a challenge this week as the stout Houston Texans front comes to Nashville, also seeking their first win of 2025.
