The Tennessee Titans have seen little improvement on the field in 2026.
Sure, in a lot of ways, they pass the eye test. They've been able to keep several games within reach, but have only been able to get one win. It's part of the reason the organization was even slightly open to trading Jeffery Simmons. They know they need draft capital to move this team in the right direction, and the Chicago Bears offered more than Simmons was worth.
The NFL trade deadline is looming.
Next Tuesday, November 10, at 3:00 p.m. CST, is the deadline teams have to move players before rosters are set until free agency opens in March. Initially, the Titans weren't interested in hearing offers on Simmons, although they came anyway. But Mike Borgonzi changed his mind
on that and let Simmons go.
Now, the team is getting calls about running back Tony Pollard, despite saying there's no interest in trading him.
Pro Football Talk's Mike Florio writes:
Multiple teams are interested in running back Tony Pollard. So far, however, G.M. Mike Borgonzi has declined to engage in conversations about a potential trade.
Whether that will change remains to be seen, with or without someone calling owner Amy Adams Strunk directly.
Regardless, Pollard is an attractive option for any contender looking for help at the position. His contract is very affordable, relative to the veteran market. His 2027 base salary is $5.99 million (with $3.32 million left for 2026). In 2027, he’s due to earn a non-guaranteed base salary of $6.74 million. (In each year, he earns $30,000 for each game in which he’s on the active roster.)
In 2026, Pollard is on pace to record his fifth consecutive 1,000-yard season. Through eight games, he has 133 carries for 595 yards and six touchdowns, while adding 14 receptions for 70 yards. Over the last two games, he has rushed for 246 yards (averaging 5.34 yards per carry) and five touchdowns, which catapulted him into being on pace for 1,000 yards.
There are plenty of teams out there looking for a running back. Indianapolis Colts running back Jonathan Taylor has been a hot topic regarding trades over the last few weeks, and if the Colts don't move Taylor, then Pollard becomes much more valuable and desirable.
Even if Borgonzi says he's not interested in hearing offers for Pollard now, there's still plenty of time for him to change his mind if the right offer comes across his desk before next Tuesday.
