The Tennessee Titans are about set to see how all of their offseason moves will work out when they hit the field in Week 1 against the New York Jets.
The Titans not only overhauled their coaching staff but also retooled their roster, looking completely different from previous seasons, especially on defense, where they built around Jeffery Simmons and installed Robert Saleh’s attacking defensive scheme.
As everyone counts down to kickoff, no one knows how it will pan out, but ESPN's Seth Walder looked into the Titans’ future and made a bold prediction about a free-agent move he sees not working out.
Bold prediction for 2026: Alontae Taylor will allow at least 1.4 yards per coverage snap -- solidly worse than average for a starting corner. That would
be a tough number considering the contract (a three-year, $60 million deal) the Titans gave him in free agency.
The Titans spent a lot of money on the defensive side of the ball, especially at cornerback, where they invested heavily in Cor’Dale Flott and Alonte Taylor, and the pair did have some rough patches in the preseason. However, with the front playing vanilla and no scheming, it is hard to tell what can be taken from that action.
Taylor has been surging in the final weeks in camp, and his inside-out versatility should be more of an asset than hindrance, but until the finished product is on the field, there is no way to know how it will play out.
