The Tennessee Titans and New York Jets are set to begin the 2026 season with a Week 1 matchup at Nissan Stadium on Sunday.
A matchup featuring two teams looking to turn their franchises around, there isn't much of an expectation that this game is going to feature much offense to be excited about. With that said, there are a handful of names that fantasy football managers are wondering about for Sunday.
Both the Titans and the Jets have some major question marks on the offensive side of the ball, but value can be found anywhere throughout the league.
Here's a look at who to start and sit for fantasy football in this Week 1 matchup:
Start: Jets WR Garrett Wilson
Wilson's fourth season was cut short to only seven games, but he should be a solid start in Week 1. The Titans allowed
the third-most fantasy points per game (29.7) to the wide receiver position. Wilson has been plagued by poor quarterback play and while Geno Smith isn't a major upgrade, he's better than what they've had. Wilson should be in for some high-end WR2 numbers.
Sit: Titans QB Cam Ward
The Jets allowed the seventh-most fantasy points per game (19.8) to the quarterback position during the 2025 season, but Ward still isn't an option for fantasy managers to rely in Week 1. Maybe he turns it around and takes a step forward in his second season, but there are better options available
Start: Jets RB Breece Hall
For managers who drafted Hall and Wilson, it's unlikely they are going to be anywhere but the starting lineup. The draft capital used to acquire them is reason enough to put them in the lineup, and Hall could be in for a big day. The Titans were middling against the running back position last season, allowing 20.6 fantasy points per game, good for 14th in the NFL. They beefed up the defensive line a bit, but Hall should have plenty of volume and juice to be a strong start.
Sit: Titans WR Carnell Tate
This one may ruffle a few feathers, but it's difficult to trust the rookie right out of the gate. Though his long-term outlook is still strong, the No. 4 overall pick from the 2026 NFL draft did little inspire optimism throughout training camp and the preseason. He should certainly remain rostered, but trusting him in the starting lineup may be a bit prudent. It's best to wait and see if possible.
Start: Both D/STs
While neither the Titans nor the Jets boast a powerful defense, there's still reason to believe they can be valuable units in Week 1 for fantasy purposes. With a betting total of just 38.5 points, the lowest of the week per BetMGM, this could be one of the few instances this season that the Titans and Jets defenses could be of value to fantasy managers this season.
