The Tennessee Titans got off to their best start of the season on their first possession in a 27-24 loss to the Cleveland Browns at Nissan Stadium. The offense gained 65 yards and a touchdown, which was more yards than they have gained in three of their entire first halves this season.
Running back Tony Pollard capped the drive with a 36-yard touchdown run and continued that impressive performance for the rest of the game, making the Titans’ player of the game an easy choice.
Pollard enjoys playing against the Browns
After his highest career rushing-yard total in a game against the Cleveland Browns last season (161 yards), Pollard had his best game of this season against the Browns. Pollard finished with 129 rushing yards, 26 receiving yards, and three rushing touchdowns (tied for a career high).
Pollard’s first two touchdown runs came in the first quarter, giving the Titans an early 14-0 lead, their largest of any game this season. His final touchdown run came on the game-tying drive from the one-yard line to tie the score at 24 with 58 seconds remaining.
Despite the loss, the Titans should be pleased with the running game finally coming to life. Pollard followed up his career game against the Browns last season with over 100 rushing yards in each of his next two games. Tennessee should hope for the same this season as it tries to turn around its 1-6 start.
