The Tennessee Titans have started their final preparations before taking on the New York Jets on Sunday in Week 1 action and got some bad news on Monday.
The Titans announced that ascending linebacker Cedric Gray was being placed in the NFL Concussion Protocol after suffering a concussion and minor injuries in a UTV accident over the weekend in Tennessee. While no real details were released by the organization, Turron Davenport of ESPN reported that the incident did not involve either alcohol or reckless driving.
The Titans released a short statement about the incident, but no specifics or timetable were provided.

“Over the weekend, Cedric Gray was involved in a UTV accident in Tennessee and sustained a concussion and minor injuries. We look forward to Cedric returning to the field soon and in full health when he clears the NFL’s concussion protocol.”
Gray’s loss will be a significant blow to the defense heading into the opener. Their leading tackler in 2025, Gray came into his own last season and proved to be an impact defender. If Gray cannot clear protocol, rookie Anthony Hill Jr. will likely see some increased reps, and linebacker Mohamoud Diabate will likely be a gameday elevation on Sunday against the Jets.
