The Tennessee Titans are back on the field, preparing for their Week 6 matchup against division rival Indianapolis in an important contest.
The Titans enter the contest at a disappointing 0-5, and many outlets are already looking ahead to what Tennessee may do when the 2027 NFL Draft rolls around in April. While Ohio State wide receiver Jeremiah Smith has been a popular target, USA Today's Michael Middlehurst-Schwartz believes Tennessee will move on from quarterback Cam Ward.
No. 2: Tennessee Titans – Drew Mestemaker, QB, Oklahoma State
In one of the most hyped quarterback classes in recent history, a former walk-on has risen to the top. Mestemaker might be a surprising QB1 candidate, but no passer has made a better case for a top-five pick than
the North Texas transfer. The 6-foot-3, 215-pound passer has the aggressive mindset to seek out big plays downfield, plus the arm strength and anticipation to deliver them. He still has more to prove as he gains experience against higher-level competition, but his impressive showings so far give many reasons to believe a player many had ticketed for 2028 could be one of the premier prospects next spring. Tennessee, of course, has given No. 1 pick Cam Ward just 22 starts, and it could be hard to pivot from a player the franchise has done so little to support. But standing pat would also be hard for the Titans if Ward doesn't show some serious signs of growth before the end of his second season.
This is a popular narrative building around the Titans and their potential offseason moves, and it could be in the cards. But it still feels unlikely. The Titans have invested in building around Ward, and the struggles in 2026 haven't been solely on him. Yes, he must play better and show growth, but until all facets of the offense come together, another rash decision may be a mistake.
