With the Tennessee Titans off to a brutal 0-5 start to the 2026 NFL season, it’s never too early to start looking ahead to the 2027 NFL Draft.
If the season ended today, the Titans would hold the first overall pick, and after watching the Week 5 debacle against the Houston Texans, they show no signs of improving anytime soon. The Titans have a ton of needs and may have to decide whether to go all-in on quarterback Cam Ward if the performances keep piling up.
Gordon McGuinness of Pro Football Focus (PFF) reviewed the available prospectsand determined that Tennessee can’t afford to pass on a potential generational talent.
No. 1: Tennessee Titans: WR Jeremiah Smith, Ohio StatePFF Big Board Rank: 1
If the Titans land the No. 1 overall pick, they will
have to decide whether to move on from Cam Ward or draft a player who can help him develop. Smith leads all college wide receivers in PFF receiving grade this season (94.5) and has produced an eye-popping 5.42 yards per route run.
Tennessee has invested heavily at wide receiver, but Smith would be an amazing addition. A true alpha receiver, he would give Tennessee a bona fide star as they open their new stadium. At 6-foot-4, 222 pounds, he is a matchup nightmare and has been a star since he stepped onto the Ohio State campus.
The Titans could also move back and pick up draft capital, and with the number of holes on the roster, that may be the best path in most years. But receivers like Smith don’t come along often, and the Titans’ quarterback, whether Ward or someone else, would benefit tremendously from his presence.
