On Tuesday, the Tennessee Titans released defensive lineman Jordan Elliott. The organization said that it was due to an "incident" at the team facility and that it would have no further statement on the matter.
As with everything in the NFL, it didn't take long for the apparent truth to come out.
The incident in question was related to an altercation with right tackle JC Latham during practice that carried into the locker room. Elliott was instructed to remove his pads and take a beat. Instead, he reportedly went to his car and retrieved a firearm. Fellow defensive lineman John Franklin-Myers talked Elliott down, de-escalated the situation, and, thankfully, no one was hurt.
Now that more information has come to light, former NFL linebacker Emmanuel
Acho is weighing in on the consequences Elliott faces.

“Jordan Elliott will never play another game in the National Football League," Acho says in his immediate response to learning the details of the incident. “You can’t bring a gun inside the facility to use on your own teammate and expect to ever play football again.
"We've seen other defensive tackles just like Christian Wilkins just disappear for locker room conduct. You do something as egregious as threaten the life of one of your brothers over some words? You're never playing again."
Acho's passionate response to this incident continued.
"What makes an adult an adult? What makes a man different than a boy is emotional regulation. That’s what makes you an adult," he said. "When you’re a kid, you cry because you're hungry. When you're a kid, you cry because you're tired. When you're a kid, you cry for literally any and every reason. You do not have emotional regulation. But it appears that all Jordan Elliott was, at least in that moment, was a 6-foot-3, 300-pound boy. Because if you can't control your emotions, then you already are not indeed a man at all.
"I hope, more than anything, just go get your emotions in check. Because this wasn't an opponent. This was quite literally a teammate who you were supposed to go to war with, not go to war against.”
Acho may have only played in the NFL for a few short seasons, but you don't get to that level of play without learning a thing or two. And, if we're being honest, can you imagine having so much rage toward a teammate that you thought taking their life was the answer? Even a child on a sports team knows that they must rely on their teammates to accomplish a goal. Even if there are disagreements or you don't like someone, you learn to work with them; that's one of life's greatest lessons.
There have been reports that Elliott had some off-field issues going on in the background, and it's likely this argument was just the catalyst for his breaking point. But Acho is likely right; he will never play in the NFL again
As of this writing, neither the Titans nor the NFL have released any additional statements. We're likely to see additional fallout from this event, so stay tuned for the latest.
