The Tennessee Titans finally got their first win of the season on Sunday over the Indianapolis Colts. It wasn't easy, and it wasn't pretty, but the Titans actually managed to move the ball and to capitalize on their defensive takeaways.
In the first half, it looked like the Titans were going to continue acting out the definition of insanity: repeating the same thing over and over and expecting different results. For the first five weeks of the season, that's what we saw. The Titans kept doing the same things over and over, and guess what? The result didn't change. The Colts took a 13-0 lead into the locker room at halftime.
In the second half, though, that's when things started to change. Cam Ward started looking more comfortable in the pocket.
He made accurate throws that the receivers caught. The run game suddenly had momentum. The Titans' offense moved the ball and scored 20 unanswered points to take the lead. The Colts would tie it up, but Joey Slye's two fourth-quarter field goals kept the Titans in the lead and shored up the 26-20 victory.
