The Tennessee Titans faced the Indianapolis Colts in Week 6 action at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Indiana. The Titans finally came away with their first win of the season, with a final score of 26-20.
The first half was rough; the Titans' offense continued to look like it didn't know what to do on the field and couldn't score a single point. Even with the defense getting an interception and sacking Daniel Jones multiple times before the half, the Colts took a 13-0 lead into the locker room at halftime.
In the second half, things changed. The Titans managed to move the ball and score 20 unanswered points to take a 20-13 lead. The Colts would tie the game, but the Titans didn't let up and kicked two more field goals to seal the win.
As dramatic
as the second half was, there was one player who stood out among the rest: Safety Amani Hooker is TitansWire's Player of the Game in Week 6.
Not only did Hooker nab an interception in the first half, but he led the game with 13 tackles (seven solo), and one pass defended. When the Colts were driving back down the field with 47 seconds left on the clock after the Titans went up 26-20, Hooker was responsible for making sure Daniel Jones' long bombs didn't reach their target. One was almost a second interception if his left foot had been in bounds, and the other saw him and two other Titans swat the ball out of the air on a Hail Mary attempt.
The Titans finally got their first win of the season, and while the defense was entirely responsible for keeping the Colts in check, it was nice to see the offense actually capitalize on opportunities. Cam Ward threw an interception, but he also found Carnell Tate for 70 yards and a touchdown.
The Titans had three takeaways to add to six sacks on Jones, and that was the difference. Hooker may not have been in on all of those plays, but he was exactly where he needed to be on nearly every play today. His energy kept the defense on track and ultimately gave the Titans the win.
