One of the biggest issues in the Tennessee Titans' Week 1 loss to the New York Jets was quarterback Cam Ward's underwhelming performance.
The second-year signal caller failed to impress and, in some ways, regressed back to his rookie form. The Titans definitely need better, and they need results. But as has been the case throughout a rough training camp, head coach Robert Saleh continues to spread out the blame for the shaky start to the season.

"You know, he had a rough game," Saleh said when asked about Ward. “But it’s not all him. When the All-22 comes out, and
you study the tape, you’ll see opportunities where we’ve got to be better for him as a staff; his teammates have to be better for him, and obviously he’s got to be better for his teammates with regard to delivering the football.”
With everything in the league, there is a lot to unpack with what is happening with the Titans’ offense. Yes, Ward took what was available and missed some throws, but he also didn't force throws and played turnover-free football. As bad as the offense was, they had only three three-and-outs, and the percentage is skewed because the defense gave up a quarter-eating 19-play drive and a fumbled kickoff by Chimere Dike, which cost the offense snaps.
With such a small sample size in 2026 and so many new faces, it’s a bit too early to totally pull the plug on this offense and Ward, but if the trend continues for multiple weeks, then it could be a viable conversation.
