As the first quarter of the regular season approaches its end, the picture of what kind of campaign this will be for the Tennessee Titans is becoming clearer.
Unfortunately, that hasn’t been a very pretty picture thus far as Tennessee finds itself holding the top spot on the waiver wire with an 0-3 record.
For the first week of the season, the waiver wire order is determined by the previous offseason’s draft order. With that now behind us, the waiver wire order is determined by inverse standings. There are four other teams with a winless record thus far including the Houston Texans, Los Angeles Chargers, Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Miami Dolphins.
Effective today and going forward, the NFL’s waiver priority will follow 2026 records (through Week 3

If multiple teams have the same record, the tiebreaker is determined by strength of schedule with the team holding the worse strength of schedule getting the priority on the waiver wire. The waiver order will change as the season progresses to reflect inverse standings every week.
The Titans have been in some close games, but they still haven’t looked the part of a team that is ready to compete as cam ward goes into his second season.
We’ll update where the Titans sit in future weeks if any changes occur but with the way they’re playing, there should be an expectation that they’ll hold a spot near the top of the waiver order.
