The Tennessee Titans are on their bye week, and it's been extremely quiet around the team facility in Nashville, but that doesn’t mean work isn’t being done. With the NFL trade deadline less than a week away, Mike Borgonzi may be taking calls (or ignoring them, as Mike Florio has speculated).
After the surprising trade of Jeffery Simmons to the Chicago Bears, there has been a ton of speculation on what Borgonzi and the Titans could do at the deadline, but nothing verifiable has trickled out of the organization.
ESPN's Jeremy Fowler weighed in on what Tennessee could do in the weekly buzz.
Also in the AFC South, Calvin Ridley of the Titans is considered a backup option for teams that miss out on primary WR targets. Word is Tennessee would need something
like a fifth-round pick to part with Ridley. (The Titans do not plan to move safety Amani Hooker despite some interest.)
Moving on from Ridley isn’t a surprise, though the fifth-round compensation sounds a bit steep for an aging veteran with drop issues, but if a team came calling, the Titans would have to pull the trigger.
The news that Fowler dropped is his update on Hooker could be a positive in the second half of the season, and could help the defense right itself. Although, as fans found out last week, they never truly intended to trade Jeffery Simmons, for the right price, anything can happen.
