Washington Wizards coach Brian Keefe said Monday that rookie AJ Dybantsa is day-to-day with a left ankle injury, according to Ben Strober of Locked on Wizards.
Dybantsa sustained a mild ankle sprain in the second quarter on Friday in a road loss against the New Orleans Pelicans after landing awkwardly on the court. He was ruled out of returning to the game as a precaution, recording 12 points and two rebounds in 15 minutes.
Keefe said the team is taking his injury one day at a time, leaving his status for Wednesday's season opener against the Milwaukee Bucks in question. He participated in some on-court shooting at practice on Monday.

Dybantsa finished the preseason averaging 12.8 points, 3.8 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 1.5 steals while shooting 43.9% from the field in four games. He scored 11 or more points in each appearance, including two 13-point performances.
The 19-year-old joins a team that added veterans Anthony Davis and Trae Young last season and, over the offseason, acquired Deandre Ayton and Khris Middleton to pair with a young core. He believes those veterans will help him have a smooth transition this season.
Dybantsa had a productive training camp and is working diligently to be ready to suit up on Wednesday. His game status should be known on Tuesday when the team is required to submit its official injury report for the contest.
