On Wednesday, the Orlando Magic tip off the 2026-27 season by hosting the Atlanta Hawks at the Kia Center, and if you want to catch the action live, you’re in the right place.
The Magic begin a new era under coach Sean Sweeney after the team hired the longtime assistant on June 1 to replace Jamahl Mosley. Sweeney guided the Magic to a 3-1 preseason record with a revamped offense and a stronger defensive focus.
Paolo Banchero led the team in scoring in the preseason, averaging 17.3 points, 5.8 rebounds and 3.5 assists in 21.7 minutes per game. The Magic also received strong contributions from Tristan da Silva (16.5 points), Desmond Bane (13.3 points) and Franz Wagner (11.8 points).
Orlando dealt with its fair share of injuries throughout the preseason,
with Anthony Black missing every game with a right ankle sprain. The team is also without other notable rotational players, including Jonathan Isaac (knee) and Noah Penda, who suffered a partially torn hamstring on Friday.
Sweeney & Co. received some positive news after Wagner also left their preseason finale early on Friday with right shoulder soreness. Wagner, who isn't listed on the injury report, said Tuesday that he was a full participant in practice and expected to play on Wednesday.
The Hawks and Magic are meeting for the first of four regular-season matchups as Southeast Division rivals. Atlanta swept the four-game series last year by an average of 15 points per game and has won 18 of the last 23 matchups overall.
