Longtime NBA veteran Dale Ellis spent the last 24 games of his career with the Charlotte Hornets during the 1999-2000 season, becoming the second player in franchise history to wear the No. 2. Ellis had an incredibly long career, playing 17 seasons after being selected with the No. 9 overall pick by the Dallas Mavericks in the 1983 NBA Draft.After averaging 7.1 points per game in his third NBA season, Ellis had a breakout campaign in his fourth year to say the least, earning the Most Improved Player Award after averaging 24.9 points, 5.5 rebounds, 2.9 assists, and 1.3 steals. Fast forward 10 years to his final NBA season and his first in Charlotte, Ellis averaged 2.3 points, 0.9 rebounds, 0.3 assists and 0.3 steals in 10 minutes per game. Ellis finished
his career with 1,209 games played and carried averages of 15.7 points, 3.5 rebounds, 1.4 assists and 0.8 steals while shooting 47.9% from the field and 40.3% from beyond the arc. He also made one All-Star appearance and earned one All-NBA selection with the Seattle Supersonics.
