The Charlotte Hornets' game plan revolved around 3-point shooting last season, as the Hornets averaged the most made 3-pointers in the league and finished with the league's third-highest 3-point percentage. Following the deal that sent LaMelo Ball to the Minnesota Timberwolves, many around the league are questioning whether or not Charlotte can replicate the success that saw them finish the year with one of the NBA's best offensive ratings.
While the Hornets will miss Ball, their roster is fully equipped to see continued success beyond the arc. Charlotte is one of only two NBA teams with four or more players to average 2.5 made 3-pointers per game or more last season, the other being the Boston Celtics. For the Hornets, those players are recent
trade acquisitions Royce O'Neale and Grayson Allen as well as Brandon Miller and last year's 3-point leader Kon Knueppel. Not to mention, Charlotte added a big man (Naz Reid) who can stretch the floor, a tool that head coach Charles Lee did not have at his disposal a year ago. Lastly, the Hornets added one of the best 3-point shooting prospects in the 2026 NBA Draft, nabbing Christian Anderson Jr. with the No. 18 overall pick from Texas Tech, where he shot 40% from beyond the arc in two seasons.
