What is the story about?

The Charlotte Hornets have made a plethora of trades this offseason; however, they might not be done yet. At the moment, Charlotte has 17 players and will have to trim their roster to 15 ahead of the 2026-27 season. Already, Charlotte traded away Miles Bridges, Tre Mann, LaMelo Ball and Josh Green, netting Naz Reid, Grayson Allen, Royce O'Neale, Dennis Schroder, Dorian Finney-Smith and draft capital back in return.

Now, according to NBA insider Jake Fischer, the Hornets may be looking to move Finney-Smith prior to training camp. Fischer reported via "The Stein Line" that Charlotte has had discussions with the Atlanta Hawks about a potential trade involving Finney-Smith and 3-point specialist Buddy Hield. Last season with the Rockets, Finney-Smith averaged

3.3 points, 2.5 rebounds, one assist and 0.4 steals in 37 games for Houston.

As for Hield, in 51 games between the Warriors and Hawks, he averaged 7.6 points, 2.3 rebounds, 1.4 assists and 0.8 steals while shooting 34.9% from beyond the arc, the lowest mark of his 10-year career.
