Training camp is underway for the Charlotte Hornets, with their preseason opener against the Brooklyn Nets less than a week away (Oct. 6). Following day one of drills and practices, head coach Charles Lee discussed recent trade acquisition Dennis Schroder and what his role will be as the Hornets' backup point guard.
"He's grown as a leader. He's impacted a ton of regular season and playoff games. He's going to help us be able to touch the paint a little more, get to the rim, and create some better shots down the stretch."
Having worked as an assistant coach with the Atlanta Hawks, Lee worked closely with Schroder during the beginning of his NBA career. Now, eight seasons later, the German point guard is recognized as one of the league's steady
veterans, having played 912 games over 13 NBA seasons. In those contests, Schroder has averaged 13.7 points, 4.9 assists, 2.9 rebounds and 0.8 steals while shooting 43% from the field and 34.1% from beyond the arc.
