The Charlotte Hornets locked up their star player Monday afternoon, agreeing to a five-year $209 million contract extension with former Alabama forward Brandon Miller, according to Shams Charania of ESPN. Miller, who is entering the final season of his rookie deal, will have his new contract begin during the 2027-28 campaign.
Although he dealt with injuries during his sophomore campaign, the former No. 2 overall pick has been a steady contributor since joining the Hornets out of the 2023 NBA Draft. Last year, Miller led Charlotte in scoring, averaging 20.2 points to go along with 4.9 rebounds, 3.3 assists, one steal and 0.7 blocks. In 166 games with the franchise, Miller holds averages of 19 points, 4.6 rebounds, three assists, one steal and 0.6
blocks.
Ahead of the 2026-27 season, the Hornets and many other NBA experts expect Miller to have a breakout campaign following the departure of LaMelo Ball.
