The Charlotte Hornets made a major move during the 1998-99 NBA season, trading Glen Rice, J.R. Reid and B.J. Armstrong to the Los Angeles Lakers in exchange for two former first-round picks, Eddie Jones and Elden Campbell. Following the move, Campbell became a staple in Charlotte's rotation, starting in 261 of his 265 appearances and eventually relocating with the franchise to New Orleans.
During his time with the franchise, Campbell averaged 13.5 points, 7.7 rebounds, 1.5 assists, 0.8 steals and 1.8 blocks, anchoring Charlotte's interior. A 15-year NBA veteran, Campbell won an NBA championship in his 14th season, playing in 65 games for the 2003-04 Detroit Pistons. In 1,044 career contests, the former Clemson Tiger finished his career with averages
of 10.3 points, 5.9 rebounds, 1.1 assists, 0.7 steals and 1.5 blocks.
