During the 2015-16 NBA season, the Charlotte Hornets decided to add at the trade deadline, making a move for former Western Kentucky guard Courtney Lee. Lee wore the No. 1 and helped bolster Charlotte's roster for a playoff push. In 28 games, the former No. 22 overall pick averaged 8.9 points, 3.1 rebounds, 2.1 assists, 1.2 steals and 0.4 blocks in 30.2 minutes per game while shooting 44.5% from the field and 39.2% from beyond the arc. Despite his efforts, Charlotte fell to the Miami Heat in seven games in the first round of the 2016 NBA Playoffs.
In free agency, Lee departed Charlotte, joining the New York Knicks on a four-year $48 million deal. All in all, Lee played 811 games over 12 seasons, averaging 9.6 points, 2.6 rebounds, 1.7 assists,
one steal and 0.3 blocks. His career-best season came with the New Jersey Nets, where he averaged 12.5 points, 3.5 rebounds, 1.7 assists and 1.3 steals.
