Hersey Hawkins played for the Charlotte Hornets in two different stints, wearing three different jersey numbers (No. 3, No. 32 and No. 33) during his tenure. After averaging 19 points per game in his first five seasons with the Philadelphia 76ers, the Hornets acquired Hawkins ahead of the 1993-94 campaign.
Hawkins played all 82 games for Charlotte in two consecutive seasons, averaging 14.3 points, 4.2 rebounds, 2.9 assists and 1.6 steals while shooting 47.1% from the field and 39.2% from 3-point range. The Hornets later included Hawkins in a trade package to the Seattle SuperSonics for Kendall Gill. After four seasons with Seattle and one with the Chicago Bulls, Hawkins signed a one-year deal with the Hornets and finished his career in Charlotte.
In 59 games for the Hornets the second time around, Hawkins averaged 3.1 points, 1.4 rebounds, 1.2 assists and 0.6 steals.
The former No. 6 overall pick finished his 13-year NBA career with one All-Star appearance, a sportsmanship award and averages of 14.7 points, 3.6 rebounds, 2.9 assists and 1.7 steals.
