After being selected with the No. 55 overall pick in the 2016 NBA Draft, it took a season before former UNC guard Marcus Paige made his NBA debut. Following a season in the G-League, the Hornets signed Paige to a two-way deal, bringing him back to the state where he played his college basketball. Paige, a Tar Heels legend, barely scraped the surface at the NBA level, averaging 5.6 minutes per game in just five games.
In those contests, Paige tallied 2.4 points, 0.8 rebounds and 0.6 assists. After a handful of professional seasons overseas, Paige would return to the court as an assistant coach, joining UNC from 2023 to 2026. Ahead of the 2026-27 season, Paige has returned to Charlotte, now serving as an assistant for the UNC Charlotte 49ers.
