During the free agent period in July of 2010, the Charlotte Bobcats took a chance on former second-round pick Dominic McGuire, who spent his first four NBA seasons between the Wizards and Kings. After playing 52 games for the franchise, McGuire was waived to clear a roster spot for trade acquisitions Joel Przybilla and Dante Cunningham, who were acquired in the deal that sent former All-Star Gerald Wallace to the Portland Trail Blazers. Sean Marks was also sent to Charlotte in the trade but was waived along with McGurie.
During McGuire's tenure with the Bobcats, the Fresno State product averaged 3.3 points, 3.8 rebounds, 0.8 assists and 0.6 blocks in 52 games as a small forward. McGuire would play for the Golden State Warriors during the 2011-12
season and three different teams during the 2012-13 season before his NBA career came to an end after six seasons. McGuire continued to play professionally overseas afterward, until the conclusion of the 2019 season.
