Throughout the 2025-26 season, the Charlotte Hornets were shorthanded in the frontcourt at times, relying on two-way player and former Clemson Tiger PJ Hall to fill in behind Moussa Diabate and Ryan Kalkbrenner. For this reason, frontcourt depth was a huge area of emphasis for Charlotte during the offseason, as they added former Sixth Man of the Year Award winner Naz Reid and selected the strongest rebounding prospect in the 2026 NBA Draft, Hannes Steinbach.
Following the first few days of training camp, Steinbach took questions from the media, revealing what he needs to do to play a pivotal role in the Hornets' rotation. "I think just playing physical, playing hard, playing the right way, running the floor, just making the right plays, giving
my body up for the team."
While a fair amount of Steinbach's responses fall under the category of basketball instincts, good habits are contagious. Working with last year's Hustle Award winner, the aforementioned Diabate, Steinbach will have a great example to follow as he begins his NBA career.
