What is the story about?

In June of 2015, the Charlotte Hornets completed a trade with the Portland Trail Blazers, acquiring French swingman Nic Batum in exchange for former No. 9 overall pick Noah Vonleh and veteran guard Gerald Henderson. Batum played one season with the Hornets before securing a massive five-year $120 million contract extension.

Unfortunately for both Batum and the franchise, the pairing didn't go as planned, and Charlotte ended up waiving the former No. 25 overall pick before the final year of his deal. While he didn't perform to the level of a max-contract player, Batum was serviceable for the Hornets, averaging 12.1 points, 5.5 rebounds, 4.9 assists, one steal and 0.5 blocks over 308 appearances. He also aided the team in reaching the 2015-16 NBA

playoffs, their last postseason appearance to date. Batum, who recently retired, spent his final six NBA seasons between the Los Angeles Clippers and the Philadelphia 76ers. He finished with career averages of 9.6 points, 4.7 rebounds, three assists 0.9 steals and 0.6 blocks over 18 seasons and 1,205 games played.
